Get your Short Fix in ’06 at the Brampton
Fairgrounds August 4 through 6, 2006, was a tremendous success
with Juniors from British Columbia to Quebec participating in
the event. Forty-four very enthusiastic juniors landed at the
Brampton Fairgrounds with 60 head of cattle! Friday evening the
Juniors spent some time getting to know each other. The Currie
family hosted all of the juniors and anyone interested in Shorthorns
at their farm for a Beef Barbeque. Some members enjoyed a tour
of the barn while others were more interested in swimming!
Saturday everyone was invited to the fairgrounds
to find some of the Senior Shorthorn folks cooking up breakfast.
The juniors were very busy participating in various events from
salesmanship, public speaking, a quiz, team fitting and judging.
This was a great opportunity to get to know fellow juniors. Senior
juniors were paired with junior juniors and the fun continued!
Mr. Les Faulconer and Mr. Carl Bolton representing the Grey,
Bruce, Huron, Perth Shorthorn Sale attended at the banquet and
delivered to each of the participants a new leather show halter
with a brass plaque commemorating the event! Each one of these
halters was utilized the following day during the conformation
and showmanship shows. A good time was enjoyed by all!
